Lakisha Reid
Lakisha Reid Is the founder and Competitive Teams Director of Day Dream Dance. She realized her love for children and instruction of the performing arts at a very young age. She always loved to dance and put on a show , she began training in an after school dance program as a young elementary school child and fell in love immediately. From there she continued to dance, cheer and take gymnastics classes soon becoming good enough to teach the programs. It was then that she realized that her true love was teaching and children.She continued to dance and cheer on both her high school and college teams . Along the way she has created cheer programs for Montgomery Village YMCA, head coached National champion cheer and dance teams in Montgomery and Frederick Counties , winning Multiple awards for her choreography, and has had many routines featured on television. Lakisha also has a 13 year background in child development and is a certified preschool teacher. Lakisha's love for children and her equal love for the performing arts and creative expression allow her to offer a well rounded quality dance education facility.
Madeleine Halo
Madeleine Halo is the Owner and Artistic Director of, Day Dream Dance, which has been serving Montgomery County, MD since 2004. She began training with her mother, a life long dancer, when she was a young girl. At the age of 12, Madeleine became a Hip Hop instructor at Gotta Dance's summer program and soon after, she began teaching Hip Hop and Jazz at the studio full time. She then started teaching Hip Hop at the YMCA in Bethesda, MD at the age of 13. She introduced a similar dance program to the YMCA located in, Gaithersburg, MD at the age of 14 where she developed the basic structure of all classes as well as taught some of her own Hip Hop, Jazz, and Tap classes.
During her years at, Oakcrest School, in Washington DC, Madeleine took part in variety shows in which she contributed to all aspects of the productions. She assisted in the choreography of numerous dances, acting roles, and singing. Madeleine was then given the chance to teach a 3 week Hip Hop workshop for a non-profit organization in Barbados. Since then she has trained at, Carol Fonda Dance Studio, in New York City and upon returning to Maryland she has continued training at a dance studio in Gaithersburg, MD. After a few years of solely training without teaching dance, Madeleine discovered that her passion for dance was not as rewarding without having the ability to work closely with children. Madeleine then volunteered her time to teach at St. Ann's, an orphanage in Hyattsville, Maryland. She joined the team at Day Dream Dance in 2005 to keep her passion alive and to spread the joy of dance to others.
Michelle Whittaker - Ballet/ Lyrical
Michelle was a student at Deborah's Dance Workshop in Torrington, CT for seventeen years and a member of the teaching staff for five. She has trained in a variety of areas of dance including, but not limited to, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre, Modern, and Beginner Tap. She has taken numerous master classes in areas such as Jazz, Broadway, Acrobatics, Theatre Dance, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Modern. During the summers of 2002, 2003 and 2004, Michelle attended the summer workshop "For Teachers Only" in NYC hosted by Dance Teachers Magazine. Classes were offered in Ballet, Floor Barre Technique, Pilates, Partnering, Auditioning, Lyrical, Creative Movement for preschoolers, and Jazz. She graduated from Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC) in Waterbury, CT in May 2007 with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, as well as her Dance Certificate. At NVCC she received the "Choreography Award" in Spring 2006 as well as the "Outstanding Service Award" for two consecutive years. She also was able to choreograph and dance in numerous concerts in NYCC, not only performing student works but repertory works in modern dance pioneers. In December of 2006, she added producer to her list of credits as she was producer at large for the student run concert, "Art Jam". Michelle joined the staff at Day Dream Dance Studio in June 2008.
Erin Corrigan - Hip Hop GUEST INSTRUCTOR
Erin Corrigan is 20 years old and although she may seem young, she has about six years professional training in this field of dance and has been teaching for three years . Erin is also a member of a professional dance company called, Culture Shock D.C. which gives her the opportunity for continuous training every week, and amazing performances internationally. Last September Erin was given the chance to tour in China, and it was an out of this world experience. Erin is so EXCITED to share her knowledge of not only a variety of styles when it comes to choreography, but also the hip hop CULTURE.
Stetson Randolph - Hip Hop
Stetson Randolph was born and Raised in the Gaithersburg area. He is currently a student at the Univ. of MD. Stetson has been dancing for 4 years and is trained in multiple hip hop dance styles (breaking, popping, locking, commercial choreography). He's performed/competed with 2 different dance crews (Rhythm Fetish and Goin' Off) and is now part of Culture Shock DC. Stetson has been teaching since 2007 and has worked with kids ages 5-18. He has also danced professionally for Glyde Productions, as a back up dancer for local R&B singer Adam Young, as well as making an appearance in a music video (Tabi Bonney-Duhh). Stetson has been fortunate to work with a lot of great people and learn from some of the best in the industry and he is dedicated to spreading the knowledge of hip hip dance culture as a performer and as a dance educator.
